I am grateful to everyone who braved the cold to join me at the Book Launch for Slippages: Photographs by Linda Cummings at the Center for Collaborative Arts and Media at Yale University on Thursday, January 29.

A very special thank you goes to my amazing moderator Elise Morrison and fantastic surprise guest Emna Zghal (both of whom contributed essays to Slippages), the creative technical wizard, Ross Wingham, and our generous program hosts, Lauren Dubowski and Matthew Suttor. It was an enthusiastic, standing-room crowd curious to learn about my Slippages project. I was inspired by our in-depth conversations on stage and with the audience. Looking forward to more lively events like this around the country!

For those of you who were there – thank you! It was a great opportunity to look at the relevance of Slippages today with an eye toward what has and hasn’t changed in the cultural, political, and environmental landscape between the 90s and today.  Questions from the audience highlighted the big difference between creative and technical processes — and how these changes shape our experience, and the photographic image. Speaking with you reminded me how performative aspects of Slippages relate to my river photography and artwork today.

For those of you not at this launch…Slippages: Photographs by Linda Cummings is still available for purchase on my website through Amazon and other booksellers, and from Grey Matter Books in New Haven (203-553-3180, 264 York St, New Haven).

Watch for other upcoming book signings and events on my website Events page.
